If you want to build your own Lister based generator, you will need a sturdy chassis. The following two files are technical drawings of generator chassis's that we have used in the past. These drawings are the intellectual property of Volvox Ltd. You are not allowed to copy, distribute or publish them without our permission.

The technical diagram below is the cheapest possible design for a serviceable and effective exhaust gas heat exchanger. This diagram is the Intellectual Property of Volvox Ltd. and is made available here for your own personal use only. Please do not copy or re-distribute with prior permission.

The diagram shows metric units, but our prototypes were built using standard BSP 3" outer pipe and standard BSP 3/4" inner pipes. Using BSP a 3" BSP outer pipe allowed the use of a 3" to 2" standard reducing fitting. These standard pipes help keep the price down and they are available in both black iron and stainless steel.

N.B. If you get your local Engineering shop to make one of these for you, make sure all the seams are welded and not brazed. Also get them to pressure test the unit.
The reducing fittings at the ends will need to be removed regularly for cleaning, so it might be a good idea to use some copper-slip or something suimilar.
